Is it enough? All I know is that I am cranky. and emotional.
I have diet plan ("what to eat after surgery") papers from
- The Dietitian I had to see before being banded.
- From the Weight Loss Co-ordinator that works with the Surgeon
- and From the Surgeons Office
and they ALL SAY FREAKING DIFFERENT THINGS!
Some say 800 calories a Day. Some have no calorie limit listed.
Some say 80 grams of protein a day, some say 50-60.
Some say I can have pureed foods after 2 weeks, some say 3 weeks.
I seriously thing people who have a problem with food like me really need more kind of counseling or something BEFORE getting the band, because right now - I'm cranky, I'm not hungry in the least bit, and I'm GAINING weight. sigh
My only advice is to keep a long term view. You WILL rock this band, right now you are healing. Don't sweat the details, just rest and feel good right now. When is your first fill appointment?
ReplyDeleteHi Tina! thanks! I don't get a fill until at least 6-8 weeks, I think. I see the doctor on Monday just for a 2 week check up.
DeleteYou can do it Lala. You have come too far to give up now. You (we) need something to keep our minds off food.
ReplyDeleteHi Reggie! I know - this no food thing is the pits! Still trying to come up with a "replacement" :-)
Deleteugh I wish i had some advice about head hunger. That one lingers for a long time. Right now you have to be tough. Keep telling yourself "I didn't get a lapband placed into my body to overeat right now"
ReplyDelete800 Calories is enough, you'll start eating more in a month or two. My dietitian told me to get between 50-60 grams of protein and my husband to get 80. Just get in that 30 point range of 50-80. In a few weeks you'll be glad you did.
Remember you got this band for a reason, it's not magic, but it's going to help you control your eating. stick with the plan and you'll see small results every week. Those small results add up to HUGE numbers after a while!!
I know this time is really hard! Just keep sticking with whatever your doctor says and I promise it will get better. Just keep making good choices and keep the goal in mind!
